Hon. Seyi Jakande, on Thursday, Nov 20, conducted a comprehensive inspection of ongoing road rehabilitation projects across several streets in the Lcda praising the progress while expressing disappointment over community misuse of drainage systems.
The inspected roads and drainage include Akala, Igbarere, Adedoja, Ashaoku, Akinbiyi, Amodu Anifowoshe, Alhaji, and Elegba Streets.
Jakande lauded the quality and pace of the projects, aligning them with his goal to boost residents’ mobility and local economic activity. “Seeing these streets transformed from dilapidated to motorable is why we started this. It’s about making life easier and driving economic growth,” he said.
However, the Chairman voiced sharp concern over blocked drainages, which residents had turned into dumping grounds. “Blocking drains with trash will cause flooding and ruin this multi-million naira investment,” he warned sternly.
Residents and commuters welcomed the inspection enthusiastically, with representatives from the Community Development Association (CDA) on nearby streets appealing for project extensions. In the Executive Chairman's team was the Ward A2 Councillor and the deputy leader of the legislative council Hon. Haruna Adeosun, Jakande’s technical team, and media personnel.
